KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatudin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah called on Malaysians to reflect upon the deeds and sacrifices made by those who fought to make the country what it is today.

In his Hari Raya Aidilfitri address, the King also urged the public to sow the seeds of unity and reject matters which can jeopardise national harmony.

“On this blessed day, I urge the people to show their appreciation for the peace, security and prosperity we enjoy.

“Instill within us a united spirit and avoid things that could disrupt the harmony of the country that we love,” he said in a special address televised over RTM.

He expressed his appreciation for the sacrifices made by those on duty on Aidilfitri, especially the armed forces, police and those of other agencies responsible for safeguarding the nation’s peace.

“Even as we celebrate the arrival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, let us not forget the deeds and sacrifices made by those who left behind for us a nation as fortunate as Malaysia, blessed with peace and harmony for all.

“May Allah bless those who have left us,” he said.

The King also expressed his thanks to those who had extended their condolences to him over the passing of his father, the late former Sultan of Pahang Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Ahmad Shah on May 22.

“The people’s love and affection have helped ease my family’s sorrow.

“The Queen and I pray that Malaysia and its people will always remain under Allah’s protection and continue to stay peaceful and prosperous, free of any calamities,” he said.
