#TTFCovid19: Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today all foreign workers in Malaysia are required to go for Covid-19 testing.
Ismail said this was decided after the number of Covid-19 cases spiked over the past few days, the majority of which comprised foreign workers.
“The meeting today agreed to make it compulsory for all foreign workers in all sectors, whether in construction, factories, commercial, including restaurants, to undergo Covid-19 screening. They have to undergo swab tests, and the screening costs will be borne by their employers.
“And the Health Ministry proposes to start these swab tests in the Federal Territories and Selangor,” he said.

According to the minister, the cost of testing would be borne by employers.
“We will start this in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” Ismail said during his daily briefing.
“The meeting today agreed to make it compulsory for all foreign workers in all sectors, whether in construction, factories, commercial, including restaurants, to undergo Covid-19 screening. They have to undergo swab tests, and the screening costs will be borne by their employers.
“And the Health Ministry proposes to start these swab tests in the Federal Territories and Selangor.”
Ismailwas also quoted as saying that any premises where Covid-19 has been detected would be closed immediately.
On Saturday, 27 new Covid-19 cases were detected at a construction site on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, since closed.
