‘Anti Kleptocracy rally’ an utter disappointment

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakatan Harapan-led ‘Anti-Kleptocracy Rally’ was as dull as the Liverpool and Manchester United match yesterday, MCA’s publicity spokesperson Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said.

Due to the opposition pact’s failure to mobilise the expected crowd of 100,000, Ti said it shows that the rally was not able to deliver anything as promised.

“Many pictures were being shared online since 1pm on Saturday, and the afternoon crowd was so miserable many opposition leaders were still urging people to come through their social media sites,” he said in a statement today.

The rally saw a low turn out of not more than 5,000 although big names in the opposition such as Pakatan Harapan Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP Advisor Lim Kit Siang and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali were present.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor yesterday said there were only about 4,000 participants who attended the rally.

Ti further said that despite the venue, Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya being controlled by DAP assemblymen, the crowd looked weak and unenthusiastic.

“Today DAP will try to say 25,000 people graced the ‘Sayang Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptokrasi’ rally at Padang Timur, PJ.

“They had once targeted 100,000 people and were convinced with the number. The number that actually showed a up was way way lower.

“This sends a clear message to Lim Kit Siang and DAP that control most of Petaling Jaya, the people are fed up with the lies and promises of the opposition, they are not braving the sun or rain to hear the same rhetoric again and again,” he added.
