“Azmin, who was a central figure in the collapse of the former Pakatan Harapan run administration, booted his former boss’ wife straight from the number two spot onto the opposition bench, only to have the spot for himself”

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday that having Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia representatives siting on both the government and opposition benches in the Dewan Rakyatwould be the “new normal” in Parliament.
This was after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced last Monday (20th of April 2020) that he would be sitting on the opposition bench during the upcoming special parliament sitting on Covid-19, scheduled to be held on the 18thof May 2020.
But what the PKR president failed to mention, was that his former deputy, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, would no longer be sitting with PKR on the opposition bench but on the side of government, reprising Anwar’s former role as “Prime Minister in waiting.”
This is not without irony, as what this effectively means, is that Azmin, who was a central figure in the collapse of the former Pakatan Harapan run administration, booted his former boss’ wife straight from the number two spot onto the opposition bench, only to have the spot for himself.
And let’s not forget, the person PKR initiated disciplinary proceedings against, Zuraida Kamaruddin, got to retain her position as a government minister, while the person who initiated that action, Saifuddin Nasution, got booted straight to the opposition bench along with every other minister and deputy minister from PKR.
Effectively, this means that when a party is part of government, should its leadership decide to brand a party member as unworthy and (or) initiate disciplinary action against him (or her), he (or she) may get ‘promoted’ or get to retain involvement in government, while the party leadership gets relegated.
This, too, is a “new normal.”
And finally, should someone be “prime minister in waiting” for too long (Anwar), he will eventually get the honour of becoming “de-facto opposition leader” – only de-facto, yeah – while the person he tries to destroy (Azmin) will sit across the isle as new “prime minister in waiting,” staring at him in disgust.
I think this one takes the top spot and is my personal favourite.
