PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today claimed the party’s three-day retreat in Port Dickson was a success despite the absence of his deputy, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, and several other senior leaders.
But how can one even think of labelling the retreat a success, when the primary aim of the getaway – if we can even call it that – was to resolve differences between Anwar and Azmin, whose no-show stuck out like a sore thumb?
How can Anwar dream of giving it a thumbs up when the man whose authority he openly challenged a day before the launch, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, turned up, delivered a keynote address and warned team Anwar off against the advent of opportunism in Pakatan Harapan?
SUBANG JAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today claimed the party’s three-day retreat in Port Dickson was a success despite the absence of his deputy, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, and several other senior leaders.
According to the Malay Mail Online, Anwar acknowledged the internal differences in his party but said 120 leaders from various levels had convened to discuss how to overcome these and to close ranks.
“Every party has its problems and we acknowledge and have to deal with it, however the spirit and consensus here is that we want to move on,” Anwar told reporters at the end of their final session.
“To use the word ‘plaguing’ to say we have problems within the party I feel is very strong because these problems are minor. They’ve been exaggerated and the media cherish such sensational new,” he said.
True.
It was a warning to Anwar alright, given that Azmin did not turn up for the event along with Members of Parliament (MPs) closest to him.
Who does Anwar think he’s fooling?
