An Australian news network linked to PKR president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim came out to reveal that the sex videos implicating his deputy, Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, in a sexual encounter against the order of nature shows no signs of fakery.

SBS is said to have links with Anwar and has regularly featured him in good taste as the man who will take over from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister.

In the article that described the Sodomy 2019 clip to be real, SBS painted Malaysia out to be a country ‘moving backwards’ owing to anti-LGBT laws and even quoted LGBT activist Thilaga Sulathireh on the matter.

SUBANG JAYA: An Australian news network linked to PKR president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim came out to reveal that the sex videos implicating his deputy, Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, in a sexual encounter against the order of nature shows no signs of fakery.

SBS News, a Sydney based world news broadcasting agency, claims its consultations with ‘experts’ revealed that the sex clips did not show signs of digital alteration.

“If it’s a deepfake, it’s a very good one,” said one of the experts according to a report by Malaysiakini.

The report read:

According to SBS, Nguyen is a digital forensics expert who previously consulted and provided content verification for the BBC and the New York Times, and now works for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Following his analysis of the three clips, Nguyen said: “At an image level, forensically it checks out. I ran a number of forensic analysis… across the three videos and at the six points I checked, there was no evidence of photo or image manipulation.”

Drawing a similar conclusion was Professor Siwei Lyu from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Albany in the US.

“Barring the compression artifacts, there are no definite trace of deepfake algorithms, such as inconsistent face orientations, or ‘floating’ of faces,” he said.

Beyond this, the broadcaster showed no evidence of actual studies conducted proving that the clips were genuine.

In the article that described the Sodomy 2019 clip to be real, SBS painted Malaysia out to be a country ‘moving backwards’ owing to anti-LGBT laws and even quoted LGBT activist Thilaga Sulathireh on the matter.

“It’s disappointing to see Malaysia move backwards while other countries make progress in terms of decriminalisation of laws, non-discrimination and equality for all,” the Malaysian activist said.

“The combination of laws that criminalise consensual sex between men and social stigma increases cases of extortion and violation of privacy, although underdocumented and underreported.”

“I think it is safe to say that we are not progressing.”

The channel sought no opinion from Muslim groups or parties on the matter but hinted that Mahathir had previously used homosexuality and sodomy laws as weapons to prevent Anwar from ousting him.

“In the late 1990s, Anwar was deputy prime minister and in-line to take over the top job from long-time strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad. But the two fell out in 1998 and many in the public saw the sodomy charges, which sent Anwar to jail, as an orchestrated way for Dr Mahathir to bring down the political career of his former protegee,” the report read.
