Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) refused to respond to a claim by Datuk Seri Azmin Ali that a voice in an audio recording that went viral last week belongs to the PKR president, saying it was just his former deputy’s personal view.
“When it comes to video and audio, Azmin is quite smart,” Anwar said.
On April 7, an audio clip of a conversation between two voices sounding like Anwar and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi went viral, discussing the latter’s performance at the recent Umno general assembly.
Both Ahmad Zahid and Anwar have since said they would ask their officers to lodge police reports on the clip, claiming it was a political conspiracy against them.

“When it comes to video and audio, Azmin is quite smart.
“My statement may be brief but it has profound meaning, ” he told reporters at a ceremony to welcome new PKR members comprising former lecturers, academics and scholars at a hotel here on Monday (April 12).
On Sunday (April 11), Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister, claimed that Anwar was one of the two individuals heard in the audio clip as he knew the voice of his former boss well, having served as his officer and private secretary for decades.

On Friday (April 9), Anwar also asked if it was a crime for him to speak to Ahmad Zahid.
To another question on whether or not he had lodged a police report on the clip as advised by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, Anwar said: “The IGP actually still has a lot of unfinished work related to audio and video recordings.”
The IGP had said that as of Friday (April 9), seven police reports had been lodged over the audio clip.
