KOTA BARU: Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali voiced agreement with Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who had earlier condemned foreign intervention in domestic affairs.
Apandi said foreign meddling could bring a return of colonial rule to Malaysia.
“Hadi’s remarks are absolutely right, and he was referring to the United States’ Department of Justice (DoJ), which has interfered in our country’s domestic affairs.
“What was done by the DoJ was based on (scant) information given (to them) by certain parties from Malaysia, and their actions (were politically-motivated and) not based on the law,” he said.
Apandi said this to reporters after attending a Hari Raya gathering of Tok Awang Gagah descendants at Salor here yesterday. About 800 family members attended the gathering, which was the first ever organised.
The AG was commenting on Hadi’s recent open letter to all political parties in the country, which stated that history has shown that foreign meddling destroys countries, as evident in the fall of the Malacca Sultanate.
