Arul Kanda called Rafizi Ramli a liar and instigator for disputing efforts to correct public misconception towards 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Kanda was referring to a Facebook posting in which Rafizi accused him of being used by BN in the 14th general election (GE14) to hold nationwide open dialogue sessionsheld nationwide.
“Rafizi is a liar and an instigator and this was proven when he was charged in court not only in one case, but several others,” he said.
SUNGAI SIPUT: PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli is a liar and instigator for disputing efforts to correct public misconception towards 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy was responding to claims made by Rafizi earlier today with regard the open dialogue sessions held by the 1MDB president to address rumours surrounding the state investment fund.
In a video posted on his Facebook today, Rafizi accused Arul Kanda of being used by BN in the 14th general election to hold nationwide open dialogue sessionsheld nationwide.
“Arul Kanda is a campaigning tool for the Barisan Nasional. His denial (of Pakatan’s statements on 1MDB) showed the demeanour of a two faced man on the 1MDB scandal,” Rafizi said in the video.
Arul Kanda said the statement made by Rafizi was untrue and it was clear that the latter was just being an instigator.
“Rafizi is a liar and an instigator and this was proven when he was charged in court not only in one case, but several others.
“Rafizi himself also admitted that he is a “penghasut” (instigator)…he now has 14 summonses against him.
“What I have been doing is to explain the 1MDB’s situation, and we have open discussions so the public can talk to us. If the opposition is telling the truth than I do not need to tour nationwide to meet the people,” Arul Kanda said when met after the “Bicara Isu-Isu Semasa Negara” programme at Arena Sungai Siput here, today.
He also added that he went to around 30 locations to speak on 1MDB to the public and not one opposition representative has shown up despite being invited.
“If they are telling the truth, why has no one from their side attended the open dialogue session? I have even gone to opposition areas such as Shah Alam and Subang Jaya.
“They are very much welcome to join the discussion, the events are all organised by non-governmental organisations. I would be visiting another opposition held area, from Penang to Nibong Tebal and Balik Pulau tomorrow,” he said.
Meanwhile at the programme, Arul Kanda said the opposition especially should stop politicising the 1MDB issue.
The 1MDB chief executive officer said the investment company was gaining the public’s trust through the rationalisation plan for 1MDB which has been successful despite the opposition’s negative remarks.
“We have been transparent to the public, that is why I have been going around the country which started weeks before to make the public understand the company,” he said.
Arul Kanda added that despite numerous attempts made to correct misconceptions against the strategic investment company, there will be certain parties who will try to create a cloud of doubt among the public.
