Beaufort Member of Parliamet Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun has been appointed the new chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) effective today (1st May 2020).
According to a statement by the Ministry of Rural Development, Azizah, who helms from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), will serve the post for two years ending the 30th of April 2022.
“These appointments were made after considering the candidates’ leadership capabilities, experience and contribution to the people,” Rural Development Minister Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad was quoted as saying in a statement.
Another notable mention is the appointment of Jempol MP (UMNO) Datuk Mohd Salim Sharif as Risda chairman.

Azizah replaces Hasnita Hashim, a banking professional, who was sacked on the 31st of March 2020 by the newly minted federal Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration.
Other appointments confirmed by the ministry today include:
1. Jempol MP Datuk Mohd Salim Sharif as Risda chairman (UMNO)
2. Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz as Kesedar chairman (PAS)
3. Senator Datuk Razali Idris as Ketengah chairman (PPBM)
4. Permas state assemblyman Datuk Che Zakaria Mohd Salleh as Kejora chairman (PPBM)
