Azmin: It’s presidential council, not Nurul or Mahathir, that decides Harapan line-up

“Anyone can meet Dr Mahathir. Discussions should be in the spirit of Pakatan Harapan, not individual”

SHAH ALAM: Any decision regarding the Pakatan Harapan council and leadership line-up should only be made during the presidential council, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said today.

The Selangor mentri besar was commenting on a meeting between his party vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the UK last week.

“Anyone can meet Dr Mahathir. Discussions should be in the spirit of Pakatan Harapan, not individual.

“So maybe she went there to celebrate Raya with Tun Mahathir,” Azmin told reporters when met at the sidelines of an event today.

He however said even though he did not know the contents of the duo’s meeting, any discussion or decision made will not be considered as it was not made in the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.

“I do not know, I’m not privy to the details but I don’t think so. Normally, the discussion about policy and direction of PH must be discussed in the presidential council,” Azmin stressed.

News portal The Malaysian Insight reported Nurul Izzah as saying that the meeting with Dr Mahathir had yielded results for the Pakatan Harapan leadership to move forward and to name a set council soon.
