Bersih lodges police reports, says election laws violated

Electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0 has lodged a police report at the Semenyih police station here over four election offences.

Its executive director Yap Swee Seng said Bersih 2.0 has photo and video evidence which it will present to the police for further action.


SEMENYIH: Electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0 has lodged a police report at the Semenyih police station here over four election offences.

Its executive director Yap Swee Seng said amongst the offences were the setting up of “pondok panas” or canvassing booths, canvassing of votes beyond campaigning period, ferrying of voters and taking down of identities of voters.




“We observed these offences committed by Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan at four polling stations, namely, SMK Bandar Rinching, SK Bandar Rinching, SK Kantan Permai and Sekolah Agama Batu Tiga,” Yap said at a press conference here on Saturday (March 2).

Yap said Bersih 2.0 has photo and video evidence which it will present to the police for further action.

It will see a four-cornered fight between Pakatan’s Muhammad Aiman Zainali, Barisan’s Zakaria Hanafi, Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul and independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng.

The Semenyih state constituency has 53,520 ordinary voters, with 109 of them having voted through post, leaving 53,411 people eligible to vote today.

A total of 24 polling centres, involving 116 streams, are opened from 8am to 5.30pm.
