“The facts have already been laid out in front of Guan Eng. It is clear that he is incapable, and arrogant and that he is unable to perform well in any area of responsibility which is entrusted to him”
Dato’ Michael Lee Beng Seng
I refuse to accept the explanation by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that the cause of the recent massive floods in Penang was due to weather conditions.
This is because it is very apparent that the floods are due to the Penang DAP government’s inefficiency in building proper drainage works combined with their reckless approval of hillslope development and construction projects.
This time over 100 areas were affected, causing difficulties for many, especially the elderly and crippled and sick who are bedridden. It is clear to see that floods have become a frequent natural disaster in the state over the past few years due to over development.
Also, ever since the illegal hill-clearing of Bukit Relau, a.k.a *“Botak Hill”*, the conditions have become much worse.
This is why MCA Youth Penang is unhappy that the Chief Minister is using the weather as an excuse to shirk his responsibility over the floods.
Before DAP took over the state government, they had boasted that they will be able to resolve the problem of flooding in one term. This was obviously a ploy to fish for votes.
In another proof of DAP’s hypocrisy, they had previously blamed the Pahang state government of being corrupt and inefficient flood mitigation as the reason for the floods in that state.
However, 10 years after DAP has helmed the Penang state government, yet there is still no signs that the flooding problems will be resolved.
Instead, the floods have worsened, and this time it has even claimed one life already. In following DAP’s logic, does this mean that the cause of flooding in Penang is also due to corruption and lack of proper maintenance of flood mitigation projects?
Guan Eng’s statement that if it does not affect the state’s traffic conditions, then it is not a real landslide is merely an attempt to shirk his responsibility and cover up the over development happening in the state.
His action in blaming the weather is irresponsible, and proves that he has no guilty feelings for causing the people hardships.
Our Chief Minister constantly shirks his responsibility. He has no guilty feelings and feels no heartache over the suffering of Penangites. His refusal to acknowledge his administrative weaknesses will not help alleviate the people’s burden or to resolve the flood crisis.
Apparently Guan Eng is only good at making promises, but fails at carrying them out. Thus, I strongly urge the people of Penang to punish DAP and Lim Guan Eng for taking them for granted by voting against them in the next General Elections, and to stop believing in Pakatan Harapan’s ‘promises’.
The facts have already been laid out in front of Guan Eng. It is clear that he is incapable, and arrogant and that he is unable to perform well in any area of responsibility which is entrusted to him.
