Boycott Anwar, appoint Tun Dr Mahathir as opposition leader before it’s too late

“I salute Phoong for making the call, and urge everyone in the DAP and AMANAH to call a spade a spade and accept the fact that Anwar is damaged goods and a burden we most certainly can do without”

I support the call by Sabah DAP assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim be replaced as opposition leader for failing – and might I add, repeatedly – to deliver on his promise to bring down government.

According to Phoong, the so-called ‘strong, formidable and convincing’ majority did not turn up and the idea of the DAP building a coalition with UMNO has also been doubted by many.

“Racial politics is worsening and polarising our society and the budget which was a great disappointment to the people was not defeated.

“The faith of the people towards PH is faltering after these incidents. The opposition leader has been mocked as ‘the boy who cried wolf’. Senior politicians lying for power and extreme racial and religious comments have also been worsening lately.

“If we are sincere in rebuilding New Malaysia 2.0, we must usher in new politics now,” he said.

Only recently did I make public the spate of internal schisms that is spreading like wildfire throughout the DAP following Nga Kor Ming’s suggestion that Pakatan Harapan team up with Barisan Nasional in Perak towards the establishment of a new state government.

In light of Phoong’s timely call, I hereby suggest that Anwar be removed as opposition leader with immediate effect and be replaced with PEJUANG chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Not only was Anwar a thorn in Mahathir’s efforts to deliver as Prime Minister prior to the downfall of government in February, it was he who precipitated fear among PPBM Members of Parliament, causing them to leave Pakatan Harapan en masse.

These Members of Parliament were afraid that Anwar would somehow topple Mahathir and take over the reins of government, judging from the PKR leader’s incessant rants on power transition and what have you ever since Mahathir re-assumed office in May 2018.

As if that wasn’t enough, Anwar jeopardised and sabotaged every attempt by key Pakatan Harapan leaders to establish a strong working relationship with Mahathir and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, formidable enough to give Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his band of traitors a run for their money.

It was Anwar who sabotaged an agreed upon resolution by Pakatan Harapan leaders to reject Budget 2021 on the 26th of November, causing many UMNO and PPBM Members of Parliament currently aligned with Mahathir to have second thoughts during the recent budget vote held on the 15th of December.

Anwar is a danger to all of us in the opposition given his associations with Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his willingness to form government with them.

I therefore salute Phoong for making the call, and urge everyone in the DAP and AMANAH to call a spade a spade and accept the fact that Anwar is damaged goods and a burden we most certainly can do without.
