DAP’s days in govt could be numbered

Anwar made mention of an alleged effort by former defence minister Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and other Umno lawmakers to derail a succession plan for him (Anwar) to take over as prime minister.

TTF wishes to express in no uncertain terms that all this is hogwash, as nobody other than Anwar himself derailed plans, if any, with his never ending remarks on succession that are either dubious or downright lies.

His constant “expressions of confidence” for Mahathir and repeated reference to a “non-existent, two-year handover agreement” has given many an investor the impression that the country is in a state of turmoil and has affected the economy considerably.

Anwar is simply looking for a bogeyman to shift conversations away from the fact that he is fast losing parliamentary support as more and more Malay Muslim Members of Parliament resonate with the idea of a new Muslim majority-coaltion without the DAP.

SUBANG JAYA: The Pakatan Harapan secretariat, comprising coalition Chief Secretary Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah and the Chief Secretaries of all four component parties, came out strongly against an alleged attempt by UMNO’s Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to push the DAP and Amanah out government.

In a joint statement yesterday, Hishammuddin was fingered as giving “a signal towards returning to race-based politics and governance,” though to which signal the team was referring or what exactly the signal constituted was never expressed.

An excerpt from the statement read:

“The Pakatan Harapan secretariat urges Umno politician Hishammuddin and his friends to stop their campaign to propose the idea of a government without the participation of DAP and Amanah,” PH said.

“Hishammuddin, in his writing and interviews, has given a signal towards returning to race-based politics and governance. This is archaic politics that completely goes against the inclusive politics pioneered by PH.”

According to the Malay Mail Online, the statement follows PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s veiled reference towards Hisham while debating the Budget 2020 speech in Parliament yesterday.

As the story goes, Hisham and several other Umno lawmakers stand accused of trying to derail a succession plan for Anwar to take over as prime minister.
