GEORGE TOWN: A DAP lawmaker today hits out at Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang for saying that those involved in forming the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact are not to be trusted.
Its Assistant National Publicity secretary Zairil Khir Johari said it was ‘ironic’ for Hadi to make such statement when it was his (Hadi) leadership that led to the breakup of the previous pact, Pakatan Rakyat.
“Furthermore, it would appear that he does not understand the Federal Constitution. It is DAP and other PH parties that always strive to uphold the Constitution and not try to subvert it and introduce laws contrary to the nature of our supreme law.
“Lastly, Hadi has no right to take such stance when it is he who is willing to stand together with and support a globally renown kleptocrat,” he said when contacted by the New Straits Times today.
It was reported that Hadi had said that all those involved in forming PH could not be trusted.
The Pas leader also said the coalition places its hope on a shadow cabinet that has a weak concept of purpose in its aspirations.
He had said DAP and PH have shown its negative side in administering certain states, with an attitude that could create tension among the diversed community.
“They even dared to venture into dismantling the basic social contract enshrined in the Constitution,” Hadi, said in the statement that was posted on the party’s news organ, Harakah.
Hadi had also called upon all Muslims and non Muslims to reject these groups that tries to conspire against efforts taken to move forward as a nation for the good of all.
Zairil, who is also Bukit Bendera Member of Parliament, said that using Malay-Muslim unity as an excuse to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s regime just showed how low Hadi was willing to go for political ends.
