Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas last night warned Sarawakians of Pakatan Harapan’s advancement into the state, claiming that the pact would resort to politics of lies, threat and intimidation just to gain support.
One of the examples, he said, was when the Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng predicted that Sarawak would become bankrupt in three years time.
He said according to Lim, the state’s RM31 billion reserve would be used up within three years if it continued with the RM11 billion annual budget.
However, Uggah said just before Christmas, an international rating firm, S&P Global Ratings had affirmed its “A-” rating on Sarawak’s prudent budgetary performance, adding that the state had stable income.
BETONG: Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas last night warned Sarawakians of Pakatan Harapan’s advancement into the state, claiming that the pact would resort to politics of lies, threat and intimidation just to gain support.
The Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister said such tactics were being applied with the aim of toppling the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.
“This indicates that Lim’s allegation was baseless,” he told Spoah residents during a Christmas and New Year dinner last night.
He said another PH’s lie was related to the state Land Code (Amendment) Bill 2018.
Uggah explained that the amendment marked the state’s commitment to ensure that the proprietary interests over native territorial domains (NTD) were protected and native communal titles rightfully issued to the respective native communities in accordance with the land code.
Meanwhile, Uggah claimed that the setting up the Federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP) was another PH “tactic” to weaken the state government.
He advised the Sarawak people to stay united and ensure that the state continued to enjoy racial and religious harmony.
“When we have this harmonious environment, Sarawak can focus on its development agenda.
“Let us all continue to give our full and undivided support to the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg’s leadership.” he said.
