Don’t make the settlers feel as if the government is reluctant to hand out aid during raya.

Not everything in life is about harvesting fruits from trees you plant.

Sometimes, its about “giving when you have more” in the spirit of sharing and caring.

Yesterday, an official government circular made its way into social media pertaining to the special Raya aid for Felda settlers.

The circular, dated May 30, was signed by the chief secretary of the Economic Affairs Ministry Datuk Yatimah Sarjiman and was directed to Felda director-general Datuk Dr Othman Omar.

It stated that the Cabinet had agreed on May 29 to give cash aid ahead of the Hari Raya celebrations to Felda settlers.

Meanwhile, the prime minister reminded settlers not to sell their produce to non-accredited oil palm traders just to make a few extra ringgit.

“When replanting, we hope the fruits are sent to factories that are accredited by the government but there are those who send to other factories and pocket the money.

“That is wrong and should not be done. They (settlers) do not fork out any money in replanting, in fact the government gives them allowance because we know they have no source of income,” he said.
