SELAYANG: The next general election will use existing electoral boundaries if the process of redelineation cannot be completed in time, says Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Hashim Abdullah.
He said this was because there were ongoing court cases over the redelineation of certain electoral boundaries.
“Let’s say that the GE14 happens tomorrow and the process of redelineation is not yet complete, then this matter cannot be brought to the Parliament.
“If is not gazetted, then we use the old boundaries,” Mohd Hashim told reporters after a programme at the Selayang Community College here Friday.
