The Multi-Product Pipeline (MPP) and Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TSGP), which have been terminated, and the East Cast Rail Link (ECRL), which has been renegotiated, were conceived to bail out the debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak’s former special officer Datuk Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin told the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Amhari verified a document, which showed that Low had planned for Najib to make Geh, who Amhari knew as Heng, to be the overall coordinator of the 1MDB/SRC debt resolution programme.
“I can summarise this document as an extension of my personal visit to China on June 28,2016 where the projects suggested were to bailout 1MDB.
“This document is an information note and talking points on the status update for the projects and the proposal of follow-up works for TSGP, MPP and ECRL,” he said.
KUALA LUMPUR: Three controversial mega-projects mooted during Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s administration were conceived to bail out the debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
These projects are the Multi-Product Pipeline (MPP) and Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TSGP), which have been terminated, and the East Cast Rail Link (ECRL), which has been renegotiated.
Najib’s former special officer Datuk Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin said this was the gist of the document he received entitled “Action Point: China-Malaysia” via email following his trip to China.
He said the document was either received from Low Taek Jho, more commonly known as Jho Low, through email or received by hand from Terence Geh.
Amhari verified the document, which showed that Low had planned for Najib to make Geh, who Amhari knew as Heng, to be the overall coordinator of the 1MDB/SRC debt resolution programme.
Geh is also known as Geh Choh Heng, one of the key figures wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the 1MDB scandal.
“I can summarise this document as an extension of my personal visit to China on June 28,2016 where the projects suggested were to bailout 1MDB.
“This document is an information note and talking points on the status update for the projects and the proposal of follow-up works for TSGP, MPP and ECRL,” he said.
Amhari was then cross-examined by deputy public prosecutor (DPP) Ahmad Akram Gharib about Geh.
Akram: Who is Terence Geh or Heng?
Amhari: Terence Geh, I later found out that he is one of the names that the authorities are looking for.
Akram: Who is he then?
Amhari: I did not know him then.
Akram: Who is Heng?
Amhari: Heng is Terence Geh. (Laughter erupts in court)
Akram: What was his role?
Amhari: Heng was appointed as the coordinator for the Malaysia-China cooperation.
Akram: Who appointed him?
Amhari: Jho Low asked Najib to appoint him.
