A news report has surfaced claiming that former Penang Port Commission (PPC) chairman Jeffrey Chew has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in George Town, Penang.
The Star Online quoted unnamed sources as saying the former state DAP assistant treasurer was arrested at 2pm today while at the Penang MACC headquarters in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah to give a statement.
One person with knowledge of the matter insists that the arrest could have had something to do with the Penang Undersea Tunnel Project.
On the 26th of April 2018, Jeffrey was released on police bail after having been detained under the Sedition Act for sharing a video clip that allegedly tarnished the image of Pakatan Harapan.

The Star Online quoted unnamed sources as saying the former state DAP assistant treasurer was arrested at 2pm today while at the Penang MACC headquarters in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah to give a statement.
The daily, however, did not give further details on the arrest but said he might be produced in court tomorrow (1st of July 2020).
It was reported that MACC officers were believed to be in Chew’s Batu Ferringhi home earlier today conducting a search at the residence.
