Hadi: We are awaiting outcome of MACC probe related to RM90 million bribe claim

Dato’ Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party is waiting for the results of the investigation after handing over documents and the audio recording involving a central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

“What I was informed was that the audio recording was not related to the RM90 million funds, what more about the allegation that Pas received the money from Umno and 1MDB.

“Don’t just investigate Pas. I was informed that a police report was lodge by Pas Youth on the donations received by DAP and Amanah and I hope investigations will be carried out,” he added

MARANG: Pas is confident that all the documents it had surrendered to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators, including its bank account and an audio recording over the alleged RM90 million funds from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), will prove the party’s innocence.

Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party is waiting for the results of the investigation after handing over documents and the audio recording involving a central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

“MACC have met with Nik Mohamad Abduh and the party’s secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, and we have provided the required documents.

“What I was informed was that the audio recording was not related to the RM90 million funds, what more about the allegation that Pas received the money from Umno and 1MDB.

“We have given our full cooperation and now we’ll wait for the results,” he said after a get together event with residents of a low-cost housing community at Sungai Kerak last night.

Elaborating further, Abdul Hadi said the audio recording was an academic discussion on contributions that the party would wanted to accept for the 14th general election.

“I did not hear the audio recording but I was told it was an academic discussion on whether we can accept donations or not from this or that person.

“It’s like a business deal. Someone wants to buy from our shop and we don’t really ask the buyer where they get their money from to buy from our shop. When people want to buy, we sell.

“In this case, Pas gave an account number. Anyone can contribute and many people donated, especially during the 14th general election.

“We didn’t ask them (donors) which political party they belong to. Pas gets its contributions from the public and we have given our statement (to MACC), including on donations as much as RM5 and RM10,” he said.

Asked about Nik Mohamad Abduh’s claim that it was not his voice in the audio recording but then changed his answer, Abdul Hadi said Nik Mohamad Abduh should know better.

Abdul Hadi also reiterated that the MACC should also investigate other parties, especially DAP, Amanah and PKR on the donations they received.

“Don’t just investigate Pas. I was informed that a police report was lodge by Pas Youth on the donations received by DAP and Amanah and I hope investigations will be carried out,” he added
