In 1998, Mahathir sacked Anwar from government and thereafter, UMNO, on grounds that the latter was morally and criminally corrupt, telling Malaysians that his former deputy was morally unfit to lead government as he was “a womaniser and a sodomist”
THE THIRD FORCE
Blogger Lim Sian See pointed to a promise that would never see the light of day in the unlikelihood Pakatan Harapan captures Putrajaya during the 14th general election.
In a posting today on his Facebook page, the blogger noted that the late Karpal Singh had promised that should Pakatan win the election, the first person the coalition would go after is Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s fourth Prime Minister.
According to Sian See, Karpal assured the public that Mahathir would be made to answer for his 22-year mismanagement, abuse of power and the wealth accumulated by the latter’s sons, (said to be worth some RM100 billion cumulatively).
“With the appointment of Mahathir as Chairman of Pakatan, this promise will not be fulfilled,” added the blogger.
“Should Pakatan wins GE14, do you think they will drag their Chairman to jail?
“Karpal Singh, his principles and his promises have long since been forgotten by those remaining in DAP and Pakatan,” Sian See said.
Pakatan Harapan finalised its presidential council line-up on Friday, the 14th of July 2017, with Mahathir named coalition Chairman and Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Islmail, the wife of jailed opposition leader Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, president.
In a press conference called to announce the decision, Mahathir affirmed that the coalition would work towards freeing Anwar, who the former premier now insists was a victim of a political conspiracy.
But in 1998, Mahathir sacked Anwar from government and thereafter, UMNO, on grounds that the latter was morally and criminally corrupt, telling Malaysians that his former deputy was morally unfit to lead government as he was “a womaniser and a sodomist.”
