#TTFCovid19: Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that the Health Ministry met Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin this morning to discuss the possibility of lifting the government-imposed Movement Control Order (MCO).

Speaking during his regular press briefing on the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia, Hisham stressed that the idea of relaxing control was contingent upon local transmission and people movement.

Hisham also stressed that lifting the MCO does not mean easing border control given the prevalence of Covid-19 in 180 countries worldwide.

“Certainly, we are still monitoring the situation closely, but the most important are border control as well as movement control. Lifting the MCO doesn’t mean we are going to lift border control, in fact, we have to strengthen border control,” he reportedly said.

PETALING JAYA: Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that the Health Ministry met Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin this morning to discuss the possibility of lifting the government-imposed Movement Control Order (MCO).

Speaking during his regular press briefing on the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia, Hisham stressed that the idea of relaxing control was contingent upon local transmission and people movement.

“Yes, we did have a meeting with the PM this morning, but more importantly, we discussed in principle the six criteria we have.

“We discussed the principle, but now we need facts and science behind it before we can table concrete evidence to show that whether we need to extend (MCO) or not,” the Malay Mail Online quoted him as saying.
