He said ever since Lim was made MP of the area, the DAP adviser failed to bring prosperity to the Gelang Patah people in terms of development and welfare of the people
JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein strongly believes that Barisan Nasional (BN) can wrest back Gelang Patah parliamentary seat from DAP if members stay true to Johor’s spirit of ‘muafakat’ (consensus).
The Umno vice-president said although BN lost the seat to the opposition in the last general elections and dealt with another blow when Umno division permanent chairman resigned from the party last year, party members must remain steadfast.
“I believe we can win back Gelang Patah if every branch and division leader including BN component party members work together for one true cause which is fighting for a better future in Gelang Patah.”
“Enough is enough. It is high time that we stand united and show all the flaws of Lim Kit Siang’s (Gelang Patah’s member of parliament),” Hishammuddin told 350 Umno members during the Gelang Patah Umno division meeting at the Majlis Perbandaran Johor Baru Tengah (MBJBT) hall here today.
He said ever since Lim was made MP of the area, the DAP adviser failed to bring prosperity to the Gelang Patah people in terms of development and welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, Gelang Patah Umno chief Mohammad Khairi A. Malik said the party will include in its manisfesto the need for land bank and affordable housing scheme for the Malays in the area.
