An investigation paper (IP) has been opened to probe Muslim preacher Dr Zakir Naik for his controversial statements against the Hindus in Malaysia and China’s Uyghur Muslims.
“This case will be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace,” he said at the Selangor police contingent headquarters today.
On a separate matter, Huzir said the United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong) will also be investigated.
“We have also opened an IP on that. This will be investigated by Bukit Aman’s USJT (Classified Criminal Investigations).We will definitely call its members as part of the investigations,” he said.

Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said this came following a total of 115 police reports lodged against Dr Zakir so far.
“This case will be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace,” he said at the Selangor police contingent headquarters today.
Huzir, however, did not state if Dr Zakir would be called to have his statement recorded.

Asked on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement that it was up to the police to decide on the ban of Dong Zong, Huzir said they will wait for the results of the investigations and act accordingly.
Dr Mahathir had recently labelled Dong Zong as racist, as it has never agreed with national education policies, including the introduction of Jawi calligraphy in schools.
He said Dong Zong had not only protested against the Jawi calligraphy or khat issue, it was also against the setting up of Vision School (Sekolah Wawasan) for fear of Chinese students mixing with other races.
Dong Zong had set up a public petition against teaching Khat in schools, which it claimed was subtle Islamisation.
