PKR deputy president and guy-doing-most-of-Lim-Guan-Eng’s-work, Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, made a bold claim today that if the late Tun Abdul Razak were to be alive, he would strangle Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak for allowing graft in FELDA. According to Azmin, FELDA was doing just fine before Najib swooshed down and privatised it and…well, it doesn’t really go any further than that…
It was a pot shot, to be sure, one the former Selangor Menteri Besar hurled at Najib to increase PPBM’s chances of winning Semenyih. Basically, it was Azmin telling Semenyih folks that “Bossku” – a popular tag that has stuck on to Najib in recent days – was a pukka criminal who robbed from the poor and gave to the rich. If it is justice Azmin is seeking, perhaps he ought to come clean on what he and his men did to settlers prior to the 14thgeneral election (GE14).
To recap, a group of Ijok settlers undertook in the nineties to consign some parcels of land to the Government of Selangor (GoS) by means of legal authority. In return, the GoS undertook to grant a Joint-Venture (JV) effort between LBCN Development Sdn Bhd and Mujur Zaman Sdn Bhd rights to develop that land (hereinafter referred to as the “disputed land”). On the 12thof March 2018, I wrote:
As part of an agreement, the settlers were promised a house each and some cash in hand by the aforementioned developers in return for their right to develop the said land. However, the JV company hit a snag not long after and was forced to abandon the development project. When Abdul Khalid Ibrahim took over as Menteri Besar of Selangor, he invoked his power as head of government to confiscate the disputed land, thereby forestalling plans by the banks to auction that land in the nick of time.

It wasn’t long after that the current Attorney-General of Malaysia, Tommy Thomas, conspired with an official from Bank Islam to leak out secrets having to do with Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s personal accounts and dealings with the bank. Tommy, who was then the bank’s legal counsel, handed over the secrets to Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan, who, in turn, handed them over to Saifuddin Nasution and – you guessed it – Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The secrets were doctored before being incorporated into a 91-page dossier dense with conjecture, supposition and hearsay.
The content of the dossier became the basis to a coup attempt that ended with Khalid’s removal as Selangor Menteri Besar. When Azmin took over, he allowed LBCN and Mujur Zaman to sell the disputed land to a third party for RM1.18 billion but awarded settlers only RM421 million. Despite repeated requests by the settlers and several interest groups, he refused to make public the agreement LBCN and Mujur Zaman entered with the GoS even after TTF published documents proving that elements of corruption existed.
Given that the new Pakatan Harapan government claims to be fair and transparent, will Azmin now do us the honours by telling us what really happened to the remaining RM757 million? Just so that you know, LBCN and Mujur Zaman are tied one way or the other to Dato’ Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan, Mahathir associate and man-who-conspired-with-Clare-Rewcastle-Brown-and-Ambiga to put the fix on Najib. Not many are aware, that when Khalid decided to freeze projects near the disputed land to safeguard settlers, Khairuddin got his men in LBCN to meet Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and persuade her to discuss terms with Khalid.
Do you know what happened?
A very stupid and gullible Wan Azizah obliged and headed straight for Khalid’s office without realising that the person she was going to do the talking for, Khairuddin, was the guy responsible for ’50 Dalil Kenapa Anwar Tidak Boleh Jadi PM’. It was the book that contributed to Anwar’s sacking in 1998. When Khalid’s PA, Faekah Husin, pointed this out to her, she became dumbstruck and realised that she had being duped. Despite this, Anwar went ahead and fixed Khalid up, thinking that his wife could replace Khalid and take revenge. Instead, not only did Azmin end up becoming MB, he ‘fixed’ Anwar up by helping Khairuddin’s men pluck RM757 million from out of thin air. And guess who suffered in the end?
The Ijok settlers did…
And to think that Tun Razak would want to strangle Najib…
