If you think Zaid will apologise to Sultan Sharafuddin, you’re dreaming

TTF: Lim Kit Siang and Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim are drinking the same soup. Ever since the former Kita president joined the “Deceive, Agitate and Patronise (DAP)” party, he started drinking the soup of arrogance and insolence that a vast majority of DAP members – the likes of Lim Guan Eng, Superman Hew, Tony Pua, Hannah Yeoh and Teresa Kok – drink almost on a daily basis.

So it is no surprise that he refuses to apologise to the ruler of Selangor, considering that flying in the face of rulers is the ‘in thing’ for the DAP these days. Back in 2014, when Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah refused to acknowledge Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as (the now defunct) Pakatan Rakyat’s choice of a candidate for the role of Menteri Besar, Kit Siang told the ruler to butt out and warned him against overstepping his jurisdiction as the titular head of Selangor.

Even he has yet to apologise.

And if the de facto chief of the “Deceive, Agitate and Patronise (DAP)” party refuses to apologise, what makes you think Zaid will? The former Kita president – who is drunk quite often, really – habitually portrays himself to be the personification of common sense and practicality, and yet, chose to join the DAP, a party that is member to a coalition currently led by Dr Mahathir Mohamed. Ironically, Mahathir is the guy who spent 22 years castrating the Monarchical institution and twisting the arms of rulers whenever his position as Prime Minister was threatened.

So tell me, if Zaid can’t even voice his disgust at Kit Siang for allowing such a Machiavellian to lead Pakatan Harapan, what makes you think he has the moral fibre to voice remorse – let alone an apology – over his insult to the ruler of Selangor?

Following is a news item by The Star Online:

KOTA BARU: Datuk Zaid Ibrahim says he will not apologise for his remarks against the Sultan of Selangor.

The DAP leader added that he was innocent and had not broken the law by responding to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s comments.

“This is a small matter that did not need to be exaggerated.

“I admit my tweets but the question is — what wrong have I done that I need to apologise?” he said when met here on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Sultan Sharafuddin had voiced his anger and disappointment over Zaid’s jab at him on Twitter.

Zaid had said that the Ruler should be careful with his words and that everyone would be affected if “the country burns”.

His tweets are believed to have been in response to the Sultan’s statements in an exclusive interview with The Star, where the Selangor Ruler warned that the deliberate use of sensitive issues to fish for votes in the general election would destroy the country.
