JASA: Saifuddin’s statement proves government isn’t taking Barisan Nasional, opposition seriously

It is entirely possible that the government is channelling funds to units such as JASA that are easily open to abuse for the purpose of propaganda ahead of the 15th general election. Source (pic): TTF Files

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s claim that the RM85.5 million allocation for the Special Affairs Department (JASA) would be reduced isn’t what the majority wants.

On the contrary, everybody is seeking for the complete abolishment of JASA, pursuant to a decision made by the previous federal cabinet which the current Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was a part of.

Perhaps the biggest joke is how it took Saifuddin a whole 19 days to announce that the government will only trim down its allocation to JASA.

And when you ask Saifuddin “by how much,” he will tell you that “we haven’t decided yet. And the budget goes to vote tomorrow.

You mean to tell me that 19 days is not enough for Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Muhyiddin and Saifuddin to decide how much funds to take away from JASA?

PETALING JAYA: Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s claim that the RM85.5 million allocation for the Special Affairs Department (JASA) would be reduced isn’t what the majority wants.

On the contrary, everybody is seeking for the complete abolishment of JASA, pursuant to a decision made by the previous federal cabinet which the current Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was a part of.

Back then, Muhyiddin personally agreed with a decision by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to dismantle JASA on the basis that the agency was abused by the previous Barisan Nasional administration.

Known to be a “propaganda unit,” funds from JASA comprising taxpayer money was used to finance disinformation campaigns against the federal opposition well ahead of the 14th general election.

Even Saifuddin was part of the government that abolished the unit.

Then, all of a sudden, both he and Muhyiddin are Gung Ho about the need to revive the unit after having formed government with the very group that abused it – Barisan Nasional.

Makes sense?

What’s worse, not only are they channelling threefold the last amount set aside for the unit, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the present government reversed the previous government’s decision to abolish it.

Many businesses are in dire straits, and people are suffering due to Covid-19. Yet, all the present government can think of is the need to revive a unit that serves no viable purpose other than to deplete public funds very much needed by hospitals and the man on the street.

Why, is Muhyiddin’s overly bloated Cabinet not able to set up a committee comprising minsters, deputy ministers and other volunteers to help manage the dissemination of vital information in these trying times?

Perhaps the biggest joke is how it took Saifuddin a whole 19 days to announce that the government would only trim down its allocation to JASA.

And when you ask Saifuddin “by how much,” he will tell you that “we haven’t decided yet.” And the budget goes to vote tomorrow.

You mean to tell me that 19 days is not enough for Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Muhyiddin and Saifuddin to decide how much funds to take away from JASA?

This itself tells you how lightly the government took the people’s concerns and how Muhyiddin seems determined to finance JASA come hell or high water.

It is entirely possible that the government is channelling funds to units such as JASA that are easily open to abuse for the purpose of propaganda ahead of the 15th general election.
