Kelantan UMNO confident of drastic change in state under its care

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Umno is confident of a ‘drastic change’ in the political administration of the state after the 14th General Election (GE14).

State Umno liaison chief Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said this was based on feedback obtained by ‘anak perantau’ (locals who live outside the state) who returned to Kelantan during the recent Hari Raya celebration.

“What is clear is that their response to us (Barisan Nasional) exceeded expectations. They showed a positive reaction to us by expressing their willingness to change the state government in the coming election.

“They have decided to give Kelantan Umno the opportunity to govern the state next after having Pas handle it for more than 27 years,” said Ahmad Jazlan, who is also Machang member of parliament.

Jazlan who is also deputy rural and regional development minister, was speaking to reporters after attending the state Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority’s (Risda) Aidilfitri open house today, which was attended by about 1,000 people.

In attendance were state Risda chairman Rusly Yaacob, state police chief Datuk Hassanuddin Hassan and Kelantan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission director Datuk Moh Shamsuddin Yusoff.
