“Let’s not forget that not too long ago, DAP had trumpeted that there is no big brother or small brother in PH, that all are equal among each other”
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP had misled the public on the concept of equal power sharing in Pakatan Harapan (PH), claimed Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau.
He said this was evident when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had proclaimed himself as the “top dog” in PH, and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and secretary general Lim Guan Eng did not challenge Dr Mahathir’s remark.
“Let’s not forget that not too long ago, DAP had trumpeted that there is no big brother or small brother in PH, that all are equal among each other.
“But now Dr Mahathir said he is top in the PH hierarchy and even Opposition leader, and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had not spoken out against it,” said Lau in a statement today.
On July 18, Dr Mahathir said during a press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation that he is the “top dog” by virtue of his appointment as chairman of the Opposition coalition, in which PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was named the de-facto leader while Dr Wan Azizah is the president.
Lau said this is another example of how the Opposition are fond of delivering lofty speeches and making pompous promises especially when the elections are near.
“The people now need to be extra careful and they must hold the Opposition accountable for these,” he said.
“For political parties aspiring to be in power someday, the Opposition has displayed much hypocrisy and a lack of principle,” he said.
Lau pointed out that the cooperation between Dr Mahathir with his one-time nemesis, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had caused much unease among the grassroots of the Opposition coalition.
He said despite the objections, the Opposition leaders continue to move the goalposts as they seek power entirely for their own-sake.
