Kit Siang should shave his ‘extreme racist’ image first before advising others

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang should first prove that he is a changed man and no longer fears Islam and the Malays, before advising the government to foster unity and harmony.

In case he has forgotten, it was he who cheekily suggested that there could be “an irresistible green tide” phenomenon in Malaysia which could make Malaysia a complete Islamic state by the 17th General Election.

Who on earth says such things in a Muslim-majority nation?

If Kit Siang were to say these things behind closed doors to a group of DAP strategists, I wouldn’t mind.

But he said it in a blogpost that was picked up by many DAP leaning portals.

So where is the “spirit of unity” and “harmony” Kit Siang keeps talking about?

Is raising the alarm over the possibility of Malaysia turning into an Islamic state due to Malay voters opting for PAS a way to foster unity and harmony??

Many of Kit Siang’s comments and statements over the decades have bordered on racism, Islamophobia and sedition.

For instance, in a posting published via the Lim Kit Siang blog on the 8th of August 2011, a section read:

“Sometime in the 1980s Islam began creeping into the formal school system, at first imperceptibly but later accelerated under the tenure of Anwar Ibrahim as Education Minister.

“Today, Islamic Studies is a core subject for all Muslims students.

“The government also set up a system of public religious schools where the entire curriculum is consumed with Islamic Studies.

“The physical facilities of these schools are far superior to the madrasah but the intellectual climate is only marginally better.

“Universities that are supposedly geared for science and technology also have large Islamic Studies departments.

“The International Islamic University only very recently established engineering and medical faculties.

“Thus while the nation is in desperate need of scientists and IT graduates, Malaysian universities still churn out Islamic Studies graduates by the thousands.

“Their only avenue of employment is public service; they are useless in the private sector because of their narrow education.

See how his blog portrayed the idea of Muslims studying Islam in schools and universities as disturbing and problematic?

The article also read:

“There was an arrogant attempt by Anwar at making it mandatory to all at the university level, but that was quickly withdrawn amidst intense opposition from non-Muslims.”

Maybe Anwar can shed some light on this?

In a forum held at Universiti Malaya on the 24th of November in 1984, Kit Siang openly said:

“The UMNO in government appears more concerned about competing with PAS which wants an all-out Islamic state, then in holding firm by the constitutional provision of Malaysia as a secular and multi-religious nation.”

This is the same Kit Siang who now sleeps with UMNO on the same bed – today, PAS is the enemy and UMNO is good.

But back when PAS was with DAP, Kit Siang openly sang praises of Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and called out UMNO for being extreme.

See the hypocrisy?

In 1986, Kit Siang alleged that there was a conscious attempt by the government to force Islam upon non-Muslims.

“Recently, there have been a spate of under-aged non-Muslims being forced to convert to Islam, and forcedly taken away from their homes and parents.

“I do not believe that there is any religious in the world advocates the break-up of the family ties and family unit, for in Eastern society, to family unit is the integral unit of society.

“If a family unit is destroyed, society is also destroyed.”

Again, no evidence was ever presented to substantiate these claims.

On the 8th of August 2011, Kit Siang’s blog hosted yet another article, an excerpt from which read:

“I am equally alarmed at the current intellectual fad of “Islamisation” of knowledge, that is, the attempt to put an Islamic imprint on all disciplines, especially the natural sciences.

“Invariably it means the adulteration of science.

“Thus we have Islamic “scientists” who have never seen, let alone used, a test tube.”

Not racist?

Back in the sixties, Kit Siang even questioned the exclusive use of the Malay language in literature and openly debated Syed Naquib Al-Atas over the matter in public spheres at the expense of unity and harmony.

The Malays got very, very agitated, and things were about to boil over.

But despite multiple words of caution by the authorities, Kti Siang refused to budge and even faced off with Naquib at the Mara Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur.

On the 16thof Spetember 2019, I wrote:

“From Lim Kit Siang’s rude and offensive remarks to Sultan Sharaffuddin Idris Shah during Langkah Kajang to Nga Kor Ming’s infamous slurs, one can easily pen a thesis on the DAP titled “A Zoo of Racially Biased Scoundrels in the Making.”
