Kit Siang, why is Guan Eng still the Penang CM?

Kit Siang is oozing with hypocrisy like pus from a wound turned septic. And Kit Siang’s hypocrisy also smells as pungent as pus from a wound turned septic. If mere allegations are good enough to disqualify a person from public office, what about if that person — like Lim Guan Eng — has actually been charged for a criminal offence, especially one concerning fraud, breach of trust, corruption, etc?

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

“The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, owes Malaysians a full and proper explanation as to how he could appoint Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad as Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) Acting Chairman when he should have received thick dossiers about Isa being a problematic candidate for any top public post because of his controversial role as Felda and FGV Chairman, raising grave issues about integrity, breach of trust and abuse of power,” said Lim Kit Siang today.

Kit Siang, yet again, is demonstrating his double standards. These DAP and Pakatan Harapan people have one set of rules for those who support the government and a different set for those who oppose the government. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Muhyiddin Yassin, Anwar Ibrahim, Ling Liong Sik, and many more are evil when they are with Umno and/or Barisan Nasional but once they cross over to the opposition aisle they are angels.

At the time Isa Samad was appointed the Acting Chairman of SPAD there was no evidence of any wrongdoing. In fact, an investigation into the allegations had not even been launched yet. Hence, in this case, the doctrine of innocent until proven guilty applied.

If an allegation is good enough to write off a person, then Mahathir can be considered ‘tainted’ and should not be made the ‘top dog’ of Pakatan Harapan. Was it not Kit Siang himself who exposed Mahathir’s misdeeds and wrongdoings? The world would not have known about Bank Negara’s massive losses gambling on the forex market had not Kit Siang himself revealed this in Parliament in 1993 and 1994.

Was it not Kit Siang who accused Mahathir and Anwar of lying and was it not Kit Siang who demanded Mahathir’s and Anwar’s resignation in 1994 and said they must be accountable and take responsibility not only for Bank Negara’s losses, which today is worth RM99 billion, but also for hiding this fact from the nation and for lying to Parliament?

It is Kit Siang who for more than 20 years has been demanding a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the Bank Negara forex disaster and today, now that the RCI has been set up, Kit Siang has gone cold and opposes the RCI. Why has Kit Siang suddenly done a U-turn? Is it because DAP needs Mahathir as the mascot and Malay face of DAP? Is it because Mahathir serves DAP’s purpose of using him as an Ali Baba to turn Pakatan Harapan from a DAP-led Pakatan Harapan to a Pakatan Ali Baba?

Kit Siang is oozing with hypocrisy like pus from a wound turned septic. And Kit Siang’s hypocrisy also smells as pungent as pus from a wound turned septic. If mere allegations are good enough to disqualify a person from public office, what about if that person — like Lim Guan Eng — has actually been charged for a criminal offence, especially one concerning fraud, breach of trust, corruption, etc?

Kit Siang’s son, Guan Eng, has been charged with corruption and is awaiting trial. Harun Idris was asked to resign as the Selangor Menteri Besar when he faced charges of corruption. Mohamad Khir Toyo and Muhammad Muhammad Taib, too, were both asked to leave as they fought against criminal charges. In fact, Mat Taib was eventually acquitted but he was not brought back as the Selangor Menteri Besar.
