Lim Guan Eng thinks the Orang Asli in Cameron Highlands are all dunggus

TTF: Lim Guan Eng thinks we’re all dunggus.

According to him, he never offered development in Cameron Highlands to garner support, but meant to say that the state and federal governments needed to work together to develop the highlands’ tourist area.

Question is, why now?

Why only make such proposals days ahead of the by-election when you’ve been in power for seven months?

Why did you not propose this in Budget 2019?

Did it not occur to you then that developing the highlands’ tourist area would help boost Pahang’s economy?

PUTRAJAYA: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has denied claims that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has been making promises and offering development and infrastructure projects in a bid to garner support from voters in the upcoming Cameron Highlands by-election.

Lim said PH had never made such promises, either in the form of money or projects, to the electorate in the constituency, unlike Barisan Nasional.

“Did you see us (PH) making announcements to build roads and new bridges… no, we do not make such announcements. The media report is not accurate and interpreted outside the context of my speech.

“I did not say to give projects, but on the need for two governments — the federal and state — to join forces and develop the highlands’ tourist area,” he told reporters.

Lim pointed out the Jelai state seat represented by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail from BN was part of the Cameron Highlands constituency.

He said he felt that both the federal and the Pahang governments could work together.

Should the electorate rely only on the state government, he said he feared the magnitude of development at Cameron Highlands would be affected, adding that the Pahang government owed the federal government RM3.1 billion.

“Do they (the state government) have the financial resources to fulfil pledges made on development. Unlike them, the federal government has the means to do so. Thus, the federal government is ready to work with the state government to develop Cameron Highlands,” he said.

On this note, Lim urged voters in Cameron Highlands to make a smart choice, to continue developing the highlands.

Reports had claimed that Lim had recently said in a ceramah that he would bring development projects to Cameron Highlands should voters side with PH in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.
