MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations), Datuk Seri Azam Baki said the process will take place at the agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya on Tuesday.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has refuted claims that it would be recording a statement from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the latter’s Taman Duta Home.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations), Datuk Seri Azam Baki said the process will take place at the agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya on Tuesday.
“I was made to understand that his (Najib’s) lawyer had said that the process would be done at the house. I would like to stress that we have sent a notice instructing him to be present at our office in Putrajaya.
“Our bid to gather the information will take place at 10am, as stated in the notice.
On Friday, eight MACC officers had visited Najib’s residence in Jalan Langgak Duta at 3.50pm to hand over the notice.
Earlier yesterday, Najib’s lawyer, Datuk Harpal Singh Grewal, said MACC had far agreed that the statement will be recorded at the house, and not MACCs headquarters in Putrajaya.
Asked on whether Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor is also under investigation, Harpal said he has not received any information of the sort.
Last Tuesday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was quoted as saying that he expected charges to be leveled against Najib following a probe on the alleged abuse of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds.
