Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the question of him wanting to work with other opposition leaders or not to possibly bring down the country’s enemies does not arise now.
He said while his principle that personal ego must be put aside to fight foes has never changed, he was unsure if his opposition counterparts still shared the same sentiment.
“But I am unsure if the opposition leaders (now) have changed their minds and feelings towards Umno and if they still think Umno will destroy the country or not.
“Or maybe there are those among opposition leaders who are ready to work with Umno after the general election. It is up to them,” said Dr Mahathir.
KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the question of him wanting to work with other opposition leaders or not to possibly bring down the country’s enemies does not arise now.
He said while his principle that personal ego must be put aside to fight foes has never changed, he was unsure if his opposition counterparts still shared the same sentiment.
In a Facebook video, the twice former prime minister said he was willing to work with his political enemies before the 2018 general election to bring down a corrupted government.

“And my decision (at that time) bore results when the government, embroiled with corruption and having robbed the country of its properties, was toppled.
“But I am unsure if the opposition leaders (now) have changed their minds and feelings towards Umno and if they still think Umno will destroy the country or not.
“Or maybe there are those among opposition leaders who are ready to work with Umno after the general election. It is up to them,” said Dr Mahathir.
In a previous video, he had said it was true that he had scrambled to meet with PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in court before the 14th General Election to get his support on how to stop former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak from remaining in power.
Dr Mahathir said this as the national agenda was more important for him and that there was no place for arrogance and ego when they are fighting for race, religion and the country.
He said at that time, the world knew that Najib was plundering the country and if he was not toppled, the betrayal would have continued.
