The Malaysian Observer
In the run-up to the 14th general election (GE14), Malaysians will continue to lean towards the prosperity and stability which the government headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Why? The reason is simple; it’s pragmatic.
When all is said and done; people will still prefer continuity; and that is what the present government offers.
Malaysians now see how steps like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was a step the government had to take to keep Malaysians from feeling the full brunt of the global economic crisis. Although it was initially misunderstood due to those in the Pakatan Harapan opposition fanning the flames of deception; Malaysians by far have come to understand that it was a difficult decision program that the administration had to carry out.
Conversely, the DAP-led opposition was like a yoyo when came to the topic of the GST and on how they would come up with the revenue that would replace that which the GST has been annually generating since its implementation.
In the areas of investment, much has been written on how the government has attracted foreign investment in the country. Moreover, anotherb indicator would be the many construction and infrustruction projects that can be seen. The reality is no developer would build new structures if they could not see a return on their investment.
Of course the Pakatan opposition would like Malaysians to believe that those are all abandoned projects because of lack of confidence in the government; and that all the workers have been brought here to give the impression that Malaysia is thriving.
What achievements can Pakatan point to?
Even the the underwater tunnel looks to be yet another albatross around the neck of Penang’s Menteri Besar Lim Guan Eng.
In the title of this post stability was also mentioned along with prosperity. What good is a prosperous nation, if there is no stability?
The government under the watch of Prime Minister Najib Razak works tirelessly to make sure all Malaysians can live is a stable environment. Of course, there are those with their own political aspiration who try to destabilise the nation so that they can capitalize politically.
