Former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik has quit Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) as one of its pro-tem member today.
He cited the need for him to discharge his responsibility as Simpang Renggam Member of Parliament behind his decision to quit the less than three-month-old party.
Maszlee said he reached the decision to quit Pejuang based on facts garnered through detailed observation and field research on the aspirations and needs of the rakyat.
“I believe the rakyat had grown nauseous with the game of power and politics by the elite politikus. The rakyat is need of politicians who are focused and truly solving the adversities they are currently facing with,” said the 45-year-old.

He cited the need for him to discharge his responsibility as Simpang Renggam Member of Parliament behind his decision to quit the less than three-month-old party.
“I wanted to fully concentrate my effort in helping the rakyat that has been affected by the Covid-19 (pandemic), especially in Simpang Renggam and the rest of the country in general,” he said in a statement today.
Maszlee said he reached the decision to quit Pejuang based on facts garnered through detailed observation and field research on the aspirations and needs of the rakyat.
“I believe the rakyat had grown nauseous with the game of power and politics by the elite politikus. The rakyat is need of politicians who are focused and truly solving the adversities they are currently facing with,” said the 45-year-old.
He assured that he would continue his effort in movement for changes, in education through his capacity as an independent member of Parliament though activism and humanity works undertaken thorough non-governmental-organisation avenues and via fellow activists.
“I believe effort for change do not require power and position solely but through passion and opportunity,” he said.
