Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng once boasted about solving the flood problem in a term, but a massive flood problem continues to plague Penang for over eight years. Now he still wants the people to believe that Pakatan will realise its ‘100-day policies’?
Press statement by Penang MCA Youth Chairman Dato’ Michael Lee
Pakatan Harapan’s 100-day policies were blank cheques; the opposition coalition should not dream of governing the country when it can’t even resolve flood related issues.
That’s typical of a non-ruling party, which never gives due consideration to realities. In short, Pakatan’s ‘100-day policies’ should not be taken seriously by the people.
Pakatan has vowed in its ‘100-day policies’ that, if it wins the general election, the goods and services tax (GST) will be abolished, oil price will be stabilised, people’s burden will be relieved and other people-friendly policies will all be implemented.
None of this is economically viable and is a ploy to coax the people into voting them.
For instance, when GST is abolished, the government will lose tens of billions in revenue, causing its administration to not run smoothly, especially when implementing national plans and policies.
Then, there is the fact that fuel prices fluctuate simply because the world crude oil price is unstable.
If would not be feasible for the government to lock the fuel price with subsidies under the “100-day policies” plan, as the government would not be able to afford the hefty RM23 billion in subsidies given loses worth RM50 billion owing to the abolishment of GST.
Pakatan should just focus on keeping its promises. Its failure to do so cost people their lives, and yet, the coalition is dreaming up‘100-day policies’. It’s a joke.
Last Friday, a man reportedly drowned in a drain in Bayan Lepas when the township was struck by floods, with several others being forced to climb up the roof of cars to just to seek help.
