The DAP is obviously a very, very confused species.
Yesterday, party election strategist Dr Ong Kian Ming signed a joint statement with Parti Amanah Negara’s Datuk Dr Hatta Ramli and PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil, questioning Putrajaya’s recent decision to allow several sectors to resume operations under the extended Movement Control Order (MCO).
The trio also asked why sectors such as hairdressers, laundry, traditional and complementary medicine were considered essential and questioned the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s (Miti) capacity to handle applications.
The statement read:
“It is obvious that the decision to allow additional sectors to operate was not thought out properly and completely.
“The decision to allow some sectors to operate was seemingly done inconsistently.
“All this will cause more confusion and frustration among traders already suffering from the virus and the extension of the MCO.”
However, the day before, Lim Kit Siang wrote…
“I am cautiously optimistic that we have turned a corner in the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak and look forward to a two-digit daily increase of Covid-19 cases after 26 days of three-digit increases before it tapers off.
“As Malaysia appears to have turned a corner in the second wave of Covid-19 outbreak, we must work on a phased lifting of MCO while prepared for a resurgence of the novel coronavirus
…and added:
“If up to now, Malaysians still think that the war against Covid-19 is over, then we have failed in the information war – which is one of the many wars we must win if we are to survive and prevail over the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The question is whether the extension of the MCO beyond the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations is the best answer to the valid and legitimate concern whether Malaysians understand that the war against Covid-19 is a long and protracted one and that sacrifices have still to be made by Malaysians.
See the difference?
One is saying that it’s about time the government started lifting the MCO in stages – which is more or less what the government is doing even if the government denies this – while the other is ridiculing the government for doing so.
Do you now see why the DAP is a very, very confused species?
And since when did Putrajaya ever define hairdressing, laundry, traditional and complementary medicine services as essential?
