Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has once again denied his involvement in awarding a contract to his son-in-law.
“Throwing baseless accusations, such as that I had embezzled RM600 billion. Who said this? The prime minister.
“Then the amount became RM530 billion, then down to RM90 billion, then RM4.5 billion.
“These changing figures came out of the prime minister. From the law perspective, this is defamation.
KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has once again denied his involvement in awarding a contract to his son-in-law.
“It is a slander and a lie,” he said in response to Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka), who had asked the Pagoh MP to explain the matter.
Khoo had interjected Muhyiddin, who was taking part in the royal address debate in parliament today.
When pressed further by Khoo on whether he would take action on the allegations, Muhyiddin replied; “It is okay (tak apa), we will take appropriate action,” he said.
He, however, did not elaborate on the type of action that will be taken.
On Feb 9, Muhyiddin in a statement, denied news reports over his involvement in awarding the contract of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) to IRIS Corporation Berhad, which was linked to his son-in-law.
He said it was a malicious slander deliberately designed to tarnish his dignity and family.
Muhyiddin said, as the then prime minister, he was not involved in the process of awarding the contract which was carried out through an open tender.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin has called on the government to stop the witch-hunting activities against the opposition.
“They tried to find the wrongdoings of the previous governments, even when there were none.
“Throwing baseless accusations, such as that I had embezzled RM600 billion. Who said this? The prime minister.
“Then the amount became RM530 billion, then down to RM90 billion, then RM4.5 billion.
“These changing figures came out of the prime minister. From the law perspective, this is defamation.
“I do not want to take legal action against the new prime minister as yet, because I pity him. Let’s give him a chance first,” he said.
