And that is why Najib and his Boffin Boys need not waste time trying to correct the perception or rebut the stories that Sarawak Report spins. You would have as much luck trying to convince Christians that Jesus is not the Son of God or convince Muslims that Muhammad did not fly up to heaven on a winged beast to meet God as trying to convince Pakatuns and Dapsters that Sarawak Report is lying.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
“Anwar reconciliation has brought panic to Najib camp!” screamed the Sarawak Reportheadlines today. As usual, Sarawak Report is very ‘economical’ with the truth and will use words or phrases such as “as is commonly believed”, “according to those close to the investigation”, “as has been suggested”, “what has been widely reported”, “based on documents sighted by Sarawak Report”, “the rumours on the ground”, “the talk in coffee houses”, and so on.
But then this is enough as far as the Pakatuns and Dapsters are concerned for them to believe the ‘Exclusive Stories’ and ‘Exposes’ that Sarawak Report has been churning out these last seven years or so. This reminds me of the hardcore Christians who can see the image of Mother Mary on a hospital window or the hardcore Muslims who can see ‘Allah’ written in the clouds across the midnight sky. You, however, cannot see this because you are not a hardcore Christian or hardcore Muslim, as the case may be.
In other words, you must first be a believer. If you are not then you cannot see what the believers can see. And believers such as the Pakatuns and Dapsters can see what Sarawak Report writes as the truth while the non-believers might not see it quite that way.
Let us non-believers (who cannot see Mother Mary’s image on the hospital window or the word Allah written in the clouds across the midnight sky) analyse what Sarawak Reportreported.
“Reports were emanating from KL of panic within government circles yesterday, and that Najib was ringing everyone asking what to do, one insider source has told Sarawak Report.”
What reports? Who reported this? Who did Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak phone? Who was the ‘insider’ who reported this to Sarawak Report? Was it Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad?
That, it seems, does not need to be elaborated.
The rest of Sarawak Report’s report is based entirely on conjecture, speculation, assumptions, so-called unnamed ‘insider information’, and so on. Basically, if you are a believer then you will believe what Sarawak Report reported and if you are not then you will not. It is like telling you that the Qur’an was not written or authored by Muhammad but was ‘revealed’ to Muhammad by Allah through the angel Gabriel — which is why the Qur’an is called ‘The Revelation’.
Now, Muslims will, without a doubt, believe this while non-Muslims would find that very hard to believe. And the same thing will apply regarding the story that Muhammad flew up to heaven on a winged beast where he met God (Allah) plus the (Jewish) Prophets before him and where the command for Muslims to pray five times a day was issued.
That is a story which all believers believe without a doubt but which non-believers will find far-fetched. Hence if you preach to the already converted it would be easier to find believers amongst them. And that is what Sarawak Report is also doing. Sarawak Report is preaching to the already converted. So never mind what they say and how they say it. The believers will believe all their stories even though the stories lack credibility.
