Following Merdeka Centres claim that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s approval rating was 67 per cent, scores of netizens took to social media channels that announced the result to either dispute or question how the figure came about.
One user, Chow Hock Lee, wrote “Bet if this is conducted elsewhere, the results will be the opposite. So many contradictions everywhere as it is. Probably so if the responsdents are the ministers and their kakis.”
Many also observed how the previous administration of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak boasted results in favour of the former Prime Minister and claims that Barisan Nasional would still win the general election.
Not only was the general mood in social media of scepticism and distrust, almost everyone who commented in Merdeka Centre’s own Facebook page had nothing positive to say about the findings.
PETALING JAYA: Following Merdeka Centres claim that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s approval rating was 67 per cent, scores of netizens took to social media channels that announced the result to either dispute or question how the figure came about.
However, not only did Barisan Nasional lose, Barisan Nasional was eventually reduced to a three party coalition following the departure of many component parties that lost confidence in the coalition’s ability to make a comeback.
Facebook user Jeffrey Lim wrote, “With such a high rating and yet foreign investors are leaving our country n potential MNCs are avoiding Malaysia but to have their HQs n plants locate at our neighbor countries……truly surprised why these foreigners did not capitalised on our highly well respectful PM with excellent political scenerio…..day in day out….still puzzling WHY! WHY! WHY!…..either one must be making a huge mistake then…..”
Many also accused Merdeka Centre of lying, with some claiming that the sample population used to assess support for Muhyiddin was skewed.
Ramadas Gopal wrote; “MC ratings have been (always been) charm & feel good ratings on Govt leaders & Govt of the day! No excessive harm caused by reading it with a ‘pinch of salt.”
Halijah Fatin sarcastically asked in which country the research was performed, while Syahril Shahiran completely rubbished it.
Not only was the general mood in social media of scepticism and distrust, almost everyone who commented in Merdeka Centre’s own Facebook page had nothing positive to say about the findings.
