Parti Warisan Sabah is denying a news report that has alleged four of its MPs will be leaving the party soon to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government.
Its secretary-general Datuk Loretto Padua Jr said the report in Harian Metro, which has since been taken down, was baseless and merely a ploy to shift support for the party.
“They are desperate and are willing to sell the names of MPs as if they have agreed to jump. I am personally in contact with them and every one has expressed their support to the chief minister,” he said in a statement.
The Sabah government led by Warisan has repeatedly been fending off rumours that it was no longer in power as it has lost the support of its elected representatives.
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah is denying tonight a news report that has alleged four of its MPs will be leaving the party soon to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government.
Its secretary-general Datuk Loretto Padua Jr said the report in Harian Metro, which has since been taken down, was baseless and merely a ploy to shift support for the party.
“This is completely untrue. It’s a game of perception by PN because they are intimidated by the support for Pakatan Harapan plus,” he said in a statement here.
PH Plus refers to the alliance between PH component members, a faction of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and Warisan.
Padua called them psychological tactics, which he said had been extended to Warisan assemblymen in an attempt to entice them to join PN.
The north Borneo state has been rife with rumours of imminent party crossovers as the joint Opposition bloc comprising Umno, Parti Bersatu Sabah and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, is trying to woo back former Umno members from Warisan-Pakatan Harapan-Upko to form a new government.
