KUALA LUMPUR: Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff has been appointed the new Tabung Haji (TH) group managing director and chief executive officer, effective Sept 1.

He replaces Datuk Seri Zukri Samat, who is ending his contract early over health reasons after a year at TH.

The announcement was made by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa in a statement tonight.

Hasyudeen is a business graduate of Curtin University of Technology, Australia, and is a Fellow of CPA Australia, one of the world’s largest accounting bodies, as well as a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

He also serves on the board of directors in several companies, including BIMB Holdings Bhd, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, BIMB Investment Management Bhd, Cagamas Holdings Bhd, TH Plantations Bhd, Malaysia Professional Accountancy Center (MyPAC), Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM) and Al Hijrah Media Corporation.

Nik has served as the executive director in charge of market and corporate supervision at the Securities Commission Malaysia and the former executive chairman of its audit oversight board.

Mujahid paid tribute to Zukri, saying he had successfully managed the turnaround of TH during his tenure.

“Zukri was appointed TH group managing director and chief executive officer on July 10, 2018, with the task of helming the recovery process of TH’s financial position.

“Within a short period, he had successfully implemented the recovery and restructuring efforts to overcome the asset deficit,” he said.

Zukri, he said, also played a key role in strengthening the governance process and transparency in management to protect the interest of depositors.

His contributions and guidance have helped place TH on a more stable financial footing to carry out TH’s primary mandate as a key institution to help Muslims in Malaysia to fulfil the fifth pillar of Islam.

“We offer our thanks to Zukri for his contributions and commitment to TH, and hope that Nik Mohd

Hasyudeen will continue efforts to strengthen the institution,” he said.
