#TTFCovid19: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has recommended that schools be reopened two to four weeks after the economic sector is allowed to re-open fully.

This was according to Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham, who said the measure was to allow the MoH to conduct proper monitoring of the Covi-19 situation in Malaysia.

On the 15th of April 2020, Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin announced that social distancing would become part of the students’ culture when schools reopen in the event that the Movement Control Order (MCO) is lifted.

According to him, the practice of a 1-meter social distancing gap from one student to another has been stipulated in a guideline for schools nationwide and must be adhered to.

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has recommended that schools be reopened two to four weeks after the economic sector is allowed to re-open fully.

This was according to Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham, who said the measure was to allow the MoH to conduct proper monitoring of the Covi-19 situation in Malaysia.

“As far as schools are concerned, the Ministry of Health suggested and proposed that we start with opening the economic sector first.

“So we can monitor the situation and then within two to four weeks, we will decide and propose when the social and educational sector to be reopened,” Hisham was quoted as saying.

According to him, no matter which sectors are involved, it is pertinent that they comply with MOH’s guidelines on Covid-19.

“The guidelines are there, if they can maintain social distancing, then there should be no problem, but that’s what we have to be sure of,” he said.

Hisham also said that the MoH would only discuss with the National Security Council tomorrow whether to reopen daycare centres amid the government’s decision to allow several industries to operate fully today.
