Johor UMNO Deputy Chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed came forward yesterday to support Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li) ‘s suggestion that party ministers and deputy ministers leave the Perikatan Nasional (PN) led government.
In a statement, Jazlan said Ku Li’s proposal was timely due to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) decision to admit non-Malay members into the party.
Jazlan said leaders from UMNO need to be aware that their positions and future are determined by grassroots members who are angry with PPBM’s ‘political game’.
He explained that if PPBM can change its course and take things in a new direction after a week of agreeing to join MN, there is no guarantee they will not make a “u-turn” after this.
KUALA LUMPUR: Johor UMNO Deputy Chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed came forward yesterday to support Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li) ‘s suggestion that party ministers and deputy ministers leave the Perikatan Nasional (PN) led government.
In a statement, Jazlan said Ku Li’s proposal was timely due to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) decision to admit non-Malay members into the party.
Jazlan said the decision ran contrary to the core purpose Muafakat Nasional was established.
“So, ministers or deputy ministers from UMNO need to resign and leave government.
“The establishment of a non-Malay wing in PPBM contradicts the concept of harmony in MN, so why would UMNO MPs still want to sit in government,” he asked.
Jazlan said leaders from UMNO need to be aware that their positions and future are determined by grassroots members who are angry with PPBM’s ‘political game’.

On Friday, Tengku Razaleigh said the decision by PPBM to open its membership to non-Bumiputeras means the party is no longer eligible to be in “a Malay-Muslim alliance backed by MN”.
