Pakatan dismisses ‘leadership lineup’ supposedly mooted by PPBM

“I’m confirming that it is not necessarily the same structure”

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has dismissed a news report over its new leadership lineup, purportedly proposed by new kid on the block, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

Pakatan Harapan chief secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said PPBM president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had, during the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting today, denied that the list came from PPBM.

The list, which was reported on an online news portal, had listed jailed PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the coalition’s adviser, while former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be made the pact’s chairman.

PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Muhyiddin would be named Pakatan Harapan deputy chairman and president, respectively.

Asked to confirm whether the list was discussed in the meeting, PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said: “I’m confirming that it is not necessarily the same structure.”

Meanwhile, Dr Wan Azizah said the opposition pact’s leadership lineup would be announced “latest by next week”.

“We have discussed the matter thoroughly, we will announce the lineup latest by next week and send the list to the Registrar of Societies as well,” she said.

Their candidate for prime minister, however, was “not discussed”.
