Pakatan Harapan govt on brink of collapse

TTF: Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are in talks regarding prospects of collapsing the Pakatan Harapan government.

Per plans, Anwar may lead 20 or so PKR MPs in the nearest time possible should he succeed in getting the numbers.

Anwar has conceded that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has no plans to turn him into Prime Minister and is bringing as many UMNO MPs into PPBM before booting the DAP and team Anwar out.

Should Anwar succeed in convincing the MPs, the collapse of government will result in the establishment of a caretaker government by Sultan Nazrin Shah who will then appoint a caretaker Prime Minister to lead the government.

It is believed, that under the circumstances, the caretaker premiership will go to Tengku Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah.

CYBERJAYA: Nurul Izzah Anwar’s decision to quit all her party posts has left PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (pic) wondering what prompted the sudden move.

“I just learnt about it this morning. I will try to talk to her and understand what really happened. I have nothing else to comment,” he said when approached on Monday (Dec 17).

In a shock announcement, Nurul Izzah said she would be resigning as vice-president of PKR and relinquishing her appointment as the chair of Penang PKR.

The Permatang Pauh MP said that she would remain a member of the parliamentary backbench committed to reforms but would no longer serve the federal government in any capacity.

“My only regret is that I should have made this announcement sooner, but it has not been an easy decision to arrive at.

“The pace of political developments has been relentless for the last nine months, with party elections following a gruelling general election campaign,” she said in a statement on Monday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, when asked about Nurul Izzah’s quit decision, said he hadn’t been informed about the matter.

“She must have her reasons for doing so,” said the Prime Minister when asked on the latest development in the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
