PETALING JAYA, SHERATON: The rumour mill is chugging wild with multiple conflicting reports regarding the possible collapse of the Pakatan Harapan led Federal Government and the formation of a new ruling coalition.
Truth is, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and key party leaders were still having an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as of 7.50 pm today and and have yet to pass any piece of information that is conclusive regarding the future of the Malaysian government.
As such, it is best to wait for the official announcement at the Shearaton Hotel either tonight after 9 pm or tomorrow, depending on circumstances.
Claims by several quarters that Mahathir failed to obtain a majority to form a new government is not true as the Prime Minister at this very moment possesses a two thirds majority comprising MPs from PPBM, UMNO, PAS, Sabah, Sarawak and those from splinter groups belonging to PKR and the DAP.
It is left to be seen if Mahathir assembles the two thirds at one go or does so in stages.
